We have always been proud to serve our members here at Texasgulf FCU.
History of Texasgulf FCU
Chartered in September 1937, Texasgulf FCU served the employees and their families of the Texasgulf Sulphur Company in Newgulf, Texas. Texasgulf FCU continued to exclusively serve the employees of the sulphur company and their families for fifty-five years until the sulphur reserves started to deplete.
Wanting to continue to serve the community, Texasgulf FCU became a Community Chartered credit union in 1992, which enabled Texasgulf FCU to continue to serve the employees, retirees and families of the Sulphur company, but also anyone who lived, or worked, or worshiped, or attended school in Wharton County. Those individuals’ family members were also eligible for membership no matter where they lived in the world.
In February 1994, Texasgulf FCU moved its location from Newgulf to Wharton for a more centralized location. In November 2005, Texasgulf FCU opened a second branch in El Campo to better serve the residents of Wharton County.
In 2020, Texasgulf expanded it's charter to add an additional nine counties in South Texas region that include, Calhoun, Colorado, DeWitt, Fayette, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Lee and Matagorda Counties.
Texasgulf FCU now services over 13,000 members and has $125 million in assets.
